Mascoat

Company Profile

Mascoat Marine-DTM Application

Mascoat Marine-DTM is a composite ceramic insulating coating that is exclusively designed for thermal insulating and anti condensation protection for the harsh marine environment.

Developed to meet the challenges of harsh marine environments, the Mascoat Marine product family is currently used on over 1,500 vessels around the globe—from barges and workboats to luxury yachts and military craft. This coating can replaced most blanket and foam insulation products, resulting in substantial reduction of weight and keeping the vessel within the new stringent marine codes and classifications.

At Mascoat, we realize that watercraft builders, owners and operators deal with a number of practical concerns when it comes to insulation. First, corrosion, mold and mildew are regular problems in consistently moist environments. In addition, traditional insulation tends to absorb moisture, causing hazardous conditions as water drips onto boat walls and vessel floors. That’s why our engineering team has developed marine-specific products that (1) resist water buildup, (2) prevent Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI), and (3) create safe environments for crew and passengers.

Mascoat Marine-DTM insulating coating is a water-based, one-part coating comprised of air filled ceramic and silica beads held in suspension by an acrylic binder. It applies like paint and is maintenance-free, providing thermal insulating and anti-condensation capabilities for shipboard construction. Mascoat’s Marine coatings create a thermal barrier that improves equipment efficiency and prevents or reduces undesirable heat buildup and condensation aboard commercial, industrial and leisure watercrafts. Simply spray the low-VOC, water-based coatings onto sidewalls, stiffeners, overheads and other substrates to prevent condensation and maintain stable cargo and passenger temperatures.

Recommended Areas for Mascoat Marine-DTM

  • Weather exposed surfaces
  • Stiffeners
  • Overheads
  • Interiors
  • Pipes
  • Walls
  • Engine rooms

Aluminum and stainless steel require no primer systems since the coating contains no chlorides. Steel requires primer systems prior to application of Mascoat Marine-DTM.

Mascoat Sound Control-dB Applications

Metal machinery and substrates can transmit sound and vibration that’s dangerous to working personnel, so the Mascoat Sound Control family is designed to dampen noise caused by structural translation.

The Mascoat Sound Control family is the ultimate in sound control insulation for marine vessels, vehicles and factory equipment. Designed to drastically temper structural noise caused by noise, impact or vibration, Mascoat sound dampening products are applied to a variety of substrates for optimal structure-borne noise reduction and sound safety. Trusted by shipyards, facilities and transportation companies worldwide, Mascoat Sound Control-dB is ideal for:

  • Yachts and leisure vessels
  • Barges and commercial watercraft
  • Industrial facilities and heavy machinery
  • Large trucks and cargo vehicles
  • Buses and public transportation

Shipyards and facility owners love Mascoat Sound Control products, since they’re cost effective and easy to apply by spraying, brushing or rolling on in thin coats (20 mils wet-coat thickness). And since they’re designed with a paint-like consistency that cures quickly depending on ambient conditions, there’s no need to shut down equipment or take vehicles out of service for lengthy periods. Apply Mascoat Sound Control-dB directly to aluminum, stainless steel, brass or fiberglass, or supplement it with a primer for carbon steel substrates.

In addition to superior sound and vibration dampening, Mascoat’s added product benefits include (1) prevention of Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI), (2) elimination of bulky tile insulation, (3) high-grade, permanent resin adherence, and (4) water-based, low-VOC formulation.

Mascoat Sound Control products are easily applied with a sprayer, roller or brush—even in hard to reach places. In addition, Sound Control coatings cure quickly and can be applied while equipment is functioning, so there’s no lost production time or wasted manpower. Mascoat’s engineered products protect workers from heat and chemical exposure while reducing vibration and noise in a variety of industrial and marine situations.

Typical applications include:

  • Motors and transformers
  • Metal ducts and vents
  • Machine housing
  • Fans, condensers and HVAC systems
  • Assembly line equipment
  • Mills and grinders
  • Tanks and storage vessels
